It seems as if there has been a lot of drug overdose deaths this holiday season, and although it’s not a nice thought to think about, the number of drug overdoses has been growing. Unfortunately, five tri-state residents will not survive the holidays due to lethal drug overdose deaths. Yet again due to a lethal mixture of heroin and Fentanyl, five were found non responsive from a drug overdose disaster in one home. The mixture of heroin and fentanyl makes heroin even more dangerous and deadly. Fentanyl is classified as a very powerful prescription painkiller that is often used in surgeries and severe pain. It’s now been said to be 100 times more powerful than the prescription morphine. Authorities now believe that this deadly mixture is being manufactured and brought over by the Mexican drug cartel. This extreme mixture, that is known as “hotshot” or “hotload” is said to give heroin a quicker, more intense, and often deadly high, leading to a drug overdose.
Five People Suffer Drug Overdose In One Home
On the evening of Saturday, December 20th, a Boone County man returned to his mobile home to a disaster. The investigators who were on the scene stated that there were multiple children in the home while five adults were non responsive due to drug overdose on heroin. Luckily, emergency crews arrived quickly enough to the scene to revive all five of the adults with the drug overdose reversal drug Narcan. The coroner in Hamilton County (KY) Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco stated that in the month of December so far, she has seen 68 drug overdose deaths. In the first week of December alone, she saw three drug overdose deaths that had to do with Fentanyl, and then not too long after that, the number quickly rose to 14. The five adults who were revived from their drug overdose like-comas were all arrested and still remain in the Boone County jail. The young children that were in the home were placed with a grandparent of the family. One of the women who was arrested told the authorities, “It was easy to use heroin while watching the children. In the bathroom, it only takes a couple of seconds to snort it so nobody needs to watch her kids while doing it.” As she admitted to snorting the drug and doing the heroin while her kids were there.
