Getting sober and staying sober is not an easy task, but a lot of addicts and alcoholics are making it harder on themselves for no reason. Getting sober was the first step, now that you are no longer physically dependent on a drink or drug, the real work will begin. No one enjoys the first few days of getting sober, the aches, the pains and the intense craving are terrible, so why would you want to make it harder on yourself to stay sober. If you were lucky enough to go through an Ohio drug detox or an Ohio drug rehab then consider yourself extremely lucky and should take full advantage of the things you’ve learned while in a Ohio drug rehab to help in your sobriety. Keep an eye out for these ten things that you might be doing to hinder your sobriety.
1. YOU stay angry and upset at nothing for too long
Your friend never texted you back, someone in your halfway ate your Cheerios, a driver cut you off. Everyone can find a reason to be pissed on a daily basis. Why are you letting these little things bother you so much? Happy people should not do this. Don’t try to take things personal and realize that a lot of these things are very small.
2. You’re not the center of the universe.
You want to be the star of your own movie, that’s understandable but don;t get upset when others think you have the acting abilities of an extra. The point is you shouldn’t come first in all situations, there are other people in the world. As a result, people are unaware of the role they are supposed to play with you being the star of the movie. Then, when they screw up their lines, or fail to fall in love with you or don’t give you a promotion, your movie is ruined.
3. YOU LOOK AT THE BAD SIDE OF THINGS
You have the habit of seeing the negative side of all situations, even if they are positive. Try to stay away from doing this, even the worst situations have a positive side. Focus on what’s good in life, you have a lot to be thankful for.
4. You expect things that YOU have never verbalized before
People can’t read your mind, if you’re thinking about something tell others about it. If you have an idea of what to do on a Friday night, tell your friends about it and don’t get upset when you go bowling when you wanted to go see a movie. No one can read your mind.
5. You don’t enough take risks.
We’re not saying to try jumping the Grand Canyon on a scooter, but take some risks. Some of the risks you take may not work out 100% how you had planned but you will learn something from trying it and never know what you might achieve. Don’t let fear run your life.
6. YOU DON’T HELP OUT OTHER PEOPLE.
It is extremely rewarding to help out others, whether they are less fortunate than you or more fortunate, it doesn’t matter. Helping your fellow-man is an amazing thing that everyone should do free of charge.
7. You compare your life to others.
With social media sites like Facebook and Twitter it has become easier and easier to compare our lives to the people around us. Most people don’t post pictures of their failures so it’s easy to get lost in seeing other’s success. Stop doing this! There will always be someone more successful than you, unless you’re Bill Gates. Be happy with where you are and what you’ve done, and if you’re not go do something about it!
