Talk about some dumb criminals. Three Floridians are facing narcotics manufacturing charges. One of the suspects accidentally pocket-dialed 911 and got in contact with a police operator. The police operator stayed on the line for almost 30 minutes and listened to them “talking about making and selling methamphetamine,” according to a police report. The 911 operator also reported hearing ”bubbling sound as if something was cooking.” According to police. One question that comes to mind is how are people still pocket dialing in 2014?
Early on Saturday morning, police officers and investigators easily traced the call to a shed. The shed was located in the back yard of a home in Deltona, Florida which is about 30 minutes outside of Orlando.
When Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene they started to look around a bit. They noticed one of the windows on the shed was open so they took a little peek inside. In plain sight was material that is often found in a methamphetamine lab. For those of us that have watched “Breaking Bad” we know that stuff usually includes. Among other things they noticed some tubes, garbage and a “bottle that appeared to be smoking.” Even without the natural cop instinct your average American Joe could’ve noticed the SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE SHED!
Obviously deputies decided to raid the structure. They apprehended and arrested Donna Knope, 55; Jason Knope, 32; and Thomas Stallings, 41. They are being charged with manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine.
After a quick search of the shed, that has all of the makings of an active meth lab” including but not limited to - coffee filters, a butane torch, batteries, drain opener, plastic tubing, hypodermic needles, lithium strips, lighter fluid, plastic bags and numerous plastic bottles containing a white substance.” Police officers noted.
It is unknown which one of these geniuses pocket dialed 911 and accidentally tipped off the police to their little operation. The home that is on the same property that the shed is on is occupied by two of the suspects.
Stallings, who resides at another Deltona residence, is on probation for charges of burglary a little while back.
During the 911 call, a man who identified himself as “Tommy” stated that he was on probation and complained that a police official “had been watching him.” Reported the 911 operator.
As ridiculous and as funny as this is it is hard to not feel a little bit sorry for these people. Many of us have had drugs take complete control of our lives, and what may have seemed like a good idea at the time probably was not. Looking back I’m sure many of us regret some of the stupid decisions we have made and wonder to our selves “What were we thinking.”
In most cases we were not thinking. The drugs were doing the thinking for us. Sometimes it is fun to go back and think about our dumb decisions and actions, I for one am just thankful I never made the news.
