Most Addictive Drug: Top 10

10. Marijuana- Although cannabis can be rationalized that it is “natural,” it is considered an addictive substance and a gateway drug to more harder substances. When people want to say that this is not a drug and that it comes from the earth, the fact of the matter is that so do opiates such as heroin.

9. Amphetamines- Some common well-known amphetamines are Adderall and Ritalin and are not only commonly abused, but are very addictive. Adderall is prescribed to those who are suffering from a disorder such as ADHD, and is become a drug that is most addictive.

8. Benzos- Benzodiazepines are psychoactive drugs that are usually prescribed for anxiety or depression illnesses, but are commonly abuse and sold on the streets. Xanax, for example, isn’t the most addictive drug, but has caused many fatal overdoses when mixed with other substances such as alcohol or opiates.

7. Crack-Cocaine- Cocaine, or “the rich man’s drug” is very addictive and can cause devastating effects to one’s health. Abuse or overuse of the illicit crack-cocaine can stopped one’s heart and/or put a halt to someone’s breathing.

6. Alcohol- Although alcohol is legal to those over the age of 21, or varied ages in other countries, it can be a very addictive substance. People often abuse alcohol, or binge drink, without even realizing it. Alcoholism can and will cause detrimental health problems, such as liver disease, that may most likely end in death.

5. Crystal Meth- You often don’t hear too much about Crystal Meth, unless you’re a Breaking Bad fan. The fact of the matter is that Crystal Meth is one of the most addictive drugs and is not only dangerous to use, but dangerous to make as well.

4. Methadone/Suboxone- These substances that are supposed to “wein” and “cure” opiate addiction seem to only cause more harm to it’s users. People get on suboxone or methadone and think that they are “clean” and getting better, when they’re only keeping themselves more sick and suffering.

3. Caffeine- Caffeine isn’t exactly classified as a “drug” per se, but is an extremely addictive substance and it does cause people to go through withdrawals. I myself struggling with “having to have my morning coffee” just to get going in the morning.

2. Heroin/Opiates- The second most addictive drug would be heroin or opiates in general. All throughout our communities, and America for that matter, there is a major epidemic for heroin and opiate addictions that are killing our loved ones every day.

1. Nicotine- The most addictive drug in the world is Nicotine and it’s pretty self-explanatory as to why. Cigarettes are the most difficult to quit out of all the substances listed above.
