It seems like it’s everyday day that we see some sort of new “detox scam” for people who are struggling with the disease of addiction. People really believe in their minds that they can come up with some new cure for addiction and addiction detoxes. What’s catch? You may have to pay hundreds to even thousands of dollars to even step foot in your scam of a “program.”
Detox Scams Running Rampant
Facebook has a really awesome way to market your business these days, but many people are using that for their advantage and marketing these detox scams that make people believe that if you pay some absurd about of money, you’ll be cured of addiction. For example:
- http://www.rapiddrugdetox.com/?gclid=CMK0go6okL8CFQSEaQodSwcAYw Pay $7,800 for an all inclusive anesthesia detox and 3 night stay required! (are they out of their minds??)
- http://www.rapiddetoxlasvegas.com/ Want a detox that should be up to 8 days, but instead will only take a few hours?? All you have to do is put an IV in your arm with some random substance, pay $9,000 for this procedure, and then an extra $3,000 for hospital fees. It’s not medically approved or FDA approved, but hey! At least you’ll be in Vegas right? (ridiculous, just plain ridiculous.)
- http://claritydetox.com/inclusive/ Pay $7,900 for a 3 day “rapid detox” that will cure you from addiction, but you have to take an opiate-blocker for a year following their procedure. (trading one addiction for another I see?)
- Then they have “cleanses” and “pills” that you can buy in a store for x-amount of dollars, and they will supposedly detox you. This is also a detox scam, and will only be a waste of time and money. The term detoxification means medical treatment for a dangerous amount of drugs, alcohol, poisons, or toxins (keyword: MEDICAL).
Yes, this may have seems facetious, but these shady business tactics are not only giving people who help addicts get into detox a bad name, but they are charging people who are struggling thousands of dollars for something that will literally not work. So you’ll be done with your opiate detox within anywhere from a few hours to a few days, but then what? These detox scams market their procedures as a cure for opiate addiction, but they don’t understand that when you take away the drugs and alcohol, an addict/alcoholic is still left with their same patterns and behaviors; this is known as addict mentality. There are more effective ways for help, all you have to do is ask for them.
Addiction Help That Won’t Break Your Bank Account
From experience, checking into a drug and alcohol addiction detox, where it takes anywhere from 3-5 days to start feeling better (but it’s medically approved and observed/safe) and then getting into an addiction treatment center, where they have counselors and therapists who have either lived through the disease of addiction or have studied the facts of it at least. Regardless, going to a addiction treatment center will not only teach an addict/alcoholic how to live a life without struggling from substances, but will teach them how to live a productive life in recovery. We’ve seen it work and help hundreds and thousands of people, including our own staff in Recovery Society. So, avoid all of these detox scams and ask for the appropriate help today to get your life back from the disease of addiction; call (866) 323-6590 now.
