Recovery Society is proud to announce our affiliation with Party Sober Clothing, a clothing company that makes it their mission to stop the glamorization of drugs and alcohol. We at Recovery Society are on month two of this special relationship, working together with Party Sober Clothing to spread the message of hope for those who are still out there suffering from their addictions. Party Sober Clothing has been amazing in helping us get our message out there and letting people know that there is help for them, and there is a better life waiting for them on the other side: recovery. We had the pleasure of doing an interview with one of the founders of Party Sober Clothing, Ferril.
Interview With Ferril From Party Sober Clothing
Ferril is one of two founders of Party Sober, and is one of the kindest people we have been able to work with. Ferril is always offering a helping hand, and believes in what we at Recovery Society are doing. Here’s a little bit about him:
What is Party Sober Clothing?
“Party Sober Clothing is a revolutionary clothing brand with a unique message. Our mission is to stop the glamorization of drugs and alcohol, and instead, glorify the fact that not only is it possible to have a great time without drugs or alcohol, but that it’s something to be proud of these days and should be represented in a loud way.”
What made you start it?
“After battling my own drug/alcohol addictions, and winning the battle, I wanted to create something to spread hope in a large way while challenging society’s perceptions of drugs, alcohol, addiction, and what it means to live a life of purpose. Mainstream media, peer pressure and confused individuals alike all put out the vibe that drugs and alcohol are “cool” and improve your life, this couldn’t be more untrue for many people. While we understand that most people don’t have a problem with drugs or alcohol, we’re becoming successful in stopping the glamorization of addiction while promoting an alternative lifestyle. I believe that in today’s day and age, being sober is the ultimate rebellion. With that being said, we’re surely not judgemental of those who do drink or recreationally use drugs, we’re simply promoting something different and hoping to inspire those with suffering from addiction to do what they need to improve their quality of life by making the sober life look attractive.”
What’s your main goal in life?
“I got sober in the Fall of 2010, I worked a desk/sales job for about 4 months before realizing that I didn’t get sober to live my life making someone else money just so I could pay bills and exist. I quit that job and have been self employed ever since. I have a few other projects outside of Party Sober including an organization called The Music Makes Music Foundation. My goal, to sum it up, is to always thrive by helping others and continue to make opportunities for myself that can in turn create an even more beautiful world.”
What does sobriety mean to you?
“Obviously it means a lot to me but personally, sobriety alone doesn’t mean much. It’s a good start but I’ve never been interested in simply being sober and just existing. Sobriety is a wonderful foundation, but I believe that it’s what I build on top of my sobriety that will not only make it everlasting for myself, but will make it attractive to others.”
How do you guys come up with designs for your shirts?
“My business partner/best friend does all of our designing. You’d have to ask him because he’s truly the most talented artist I know. Sometimes I’ll come up with a creative idea and kick it over to him to throw it all together. It’s a team effort but he’s certainly the true artist here.”
Since you’ve been sober, what promises have come into your life?
“I’ve learned to love myself, how to give without reward, the power of staying present and I’ve learned that human connection is the most important thing on this planet. I’ve learned that anyone, anywhere, can do whatever they want in life if they help others, have a purpose and never give up. I’m inspired by others who got sober before me and hope to inspire those who get sober after me.”
What is your message to those who are still out there using?
“There is hope and you’re not alone. Life doesn’t have to suck. Do yourself a favor and do what needs to be done! I promise you can beat this if you want it bad enough. Also if you’re happy and your drinking/using is not destroying your life, that’s great too and my hat is off to you because I certainly could not maintain a life of purpose while balancing substance use/abuse.”
Hope For Addiction
Like Ferril said, you’re not alone in your addiction, and there is hope. There is a better way of life and by getting help for yourself, maybe one day you’ll be able to start an amazing company, much like Party Sober Clothing.
